Welcome Message Settings for WhatsApp

If you are using the WhatsApp channel on your JetBot, there are a few points that you need to adapt to your bot. Welcome settings is one of them.

To do so, first you need to add WhastApp channel to your JetBot. Click here for more info about adding a WhatsApp channel.

Chatbots cannot send welcome message on WhatsApp, unless the user interact with your chatbot. First message should come from the user for bot to be activated.  But this message isn’t always “Hi”,”Hello” or something else to indicate the welcome message. Users might ask directly the question that they are asking for. When something happens like this, it is not ideal to send the welcome message to the user.

Now on Jetlink, you can setup your WhatsApp Welcome message.

First, you need to go to “Edit Content” panel and click on the “Welcome Intent”.

Inside the Welcome Intent, go to “Advanced” section on the intent edit window.

Under the Advanced section, scroll down and you’ll sew the “Welcome Message Settings for WhatsApp” drop down option.

Click to the drop down menu and you will see 3 different options.

1- Never send a welcome message.

As it is obvious, if you choose this option your JetBot will never send a welcome message on WhatsApp. Welcome Intent will be disabled for your JetBot. But you can set your “Hello” intent as a welcome message if you’d like to.

2- Always send a welcome message.

If you choose this option your JetBot will always send a welcome message on WhatsApp. Doesn’t matter whatever your user writes to your bot, the first response is always going to be your Welcome Intent.

3- Send welcome message if the user message contains following text

If you choose this option your JetBot will send a welcome message if the user message includes one of the text that you pre-defined on the text box.  This text could be anything. Unlike the 1st option, Welcome Intent will be enabled for your bot and you can arrange this intent as you like.
